SWEETS Ltd provide a range of services:
- Information and Advocacy – S.W.E.E.T.S. Ltd is a Citizens Information Service outreach office.
- Adult Education & Training Services – S.W.E.E.T.S. Ltd is an accredited FETAC training centre.
- Enterprise Supports – in co-operation with Westmeath Community Development Ltd and Westmeath County Enterprise Board.
- Senior Citizens – by supporting Active Retirement Groups and providing security products and services to the elderly.
- Young People – particularly through the Activation and Family Support Project and involving them in Community Arts Projects.
- Secretarial Services – C.V. preparation & job applications, telephone, photocopy & fax, scanning, printing & laminating, internet & email, web-search & skype.
- Internet & email
- Room Hire – for meetings, training, clubs & groups.
- Community Art – an artwork is created and errected in the community each year with the assistance of Westmeath County Council Arts Office.
Activation and Family Support Programme
Adult Education and Training Services
The Activation and Family Support Programme (AFSP) was set up in January 2008 to provide funding for programmes to assist individuals and families to enhance their employability through education, training and personal development opportunities and to improve their quality of life. It is administered through the Facilitator network based in the Social Welfare Local Offices which provide communities with resources to enhance social inclusion and improve employability in a very positive way.
Examples of activities funded under the programme include parenting projects for young lone parents, support programmes for families of disabled persons, family support for travellers, projects providing personal development courses, computer training, literacy/numeracy and life skills.
